Google AI Plans Launch in Malaysia from RM11.99

Google is officially stepping into Malaysia’s fast-growing AI scene with the launch of its new Google AI membership plans, introducing three tiers built to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT offerings.

The lineup — Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra — is priced between RM23.99 and RM1,229.90 per month, catering to everyone from casual creators to full-time AI professionals.

A new wave of AI access

The entry-level Google AI Plus starts at RM23.99 per month, or just RM11.99 with a six-month subscription. It grants users access to Gemini, Google’s flagship AI assistant, alongside Flow video generation and 200 monthly AI credits — perfect for beginners exploring AI-driven creativity.

Moving up the ladder, the AI Pro plan costs RM97.99 monthly and comes with a six-month free trial. This tier unlocks Google’s productivity-focused ecosystem — integrating GeminiFlow, and NotebookLM seamlessly across Docs, Vids, and Gmail.

For heavy users and professionals, Google AI Ultra delivers the full power of the Gemini 2.5 Pro model. Subscribing for three months brings the price down to RM614.90 per month, offering expanded creative limits and faster response times for advanced content, coding, and research tasks.

AI for everyone — including students

Google says the new memberships are built to enhance creativity, productivity, and research for individuals, teams, and businesses. In a push to make AI more accessible, university students can now enjoy a free one-year Pro subscription, helping them explore how AI can assist with projects, presentations, and creative experiments.

Malaysia’s growing AI rivalry

This move comes shortly after OpenAI’s own expansion in Malaysia, where ChatGPT plans start at RM38.99 per month. The company’s top-tier plan, priced at RM999.90, provides full access to GPT-5image generation, and advanced reasoning tools — a direct challenge to Google’s AI Ultra tier.

As both tech titans push their ecosystems, Malaysian users now have a front-row seat to one of the most competitive AI battles yet. From creative projects to business automation, 2025 might just be the year Malaysia becomes a testing ground for the global AI race.

“Google’s move signals a shift — AI isn’t just for developers anymore. It’s for everyone who wants to think, write, and create smarter,” says a local tech analyst.

Localized Angle
With Malaysia’s digital transformation picking up speed, especially in education and creative industries, Google’s pricing strategy feels spot-on. Offering local users access to powerful AI tools at RM11.99 puts generative tech in reach for students, startups, and indie creators alike — a demographic long priced out of advanced AI services.
